Every year, thousands of Nigerians require Proof of Fund (POF) for different purposes — from studying abroad, securing immigration visas, to winning business contracts and tenders.
In all these cases, you must provide verifiable financial evidence that you have the required funds. But the process can be stressful, confusing, and time-sensitive.
That's where POF NG comes in. We provide legitimate, verifiable Proof of Fund and investment certificate documents tailored to your specific needs:
A sponsorship letter is often the weakest document in a Nigerian visa file — not because sponsors are unwilling, but because the letter is vague, unsupported, or sent to an embassy whose rules don't even allow that sponsor. This guide gives you copy-ready formats, and — more importantly — the rules that decide whether the letter counts at all.
First: Check Whether Your Sponsor Is Even Eligible
Before drafting anything, confirm the destination's sponsor rules — this is the step that voids most letters:
- UK student visas: only you, your parents, or a legal guardian can hold the funds — an uncle's sponsorship letter cannot fix ineligible funds. Full rules in who can sponsor your UK student visa.
- UK visit visas: flexible — any credible host/relative can support, but you must still show personal funds and ties.
- Canada: extended family sponsorship is workable with strong documentation — see the sponsor bank statement requirements for Canada.
- USA: any sponsor, but credibility is tested at interview; US-based sponsors should complete Form I-134 alongside the letter — see the F1 sponsor letter guide.
- Schengen: France uses the attestation d'accueil, Spain the carta de invitación — official forms, not free-text letters, plus the sponsor's statements.

During this period, [he/she/they] will stay at my residence at the above address. I will be responsible for [accommodation / accommodation and living expenses] during the visit. The purpose of the visit is [family visit/graduation/wedding].

What Embassies Actually Check
A letter is a claim; the attachments are the evidence. Officers test three things:
- Capacity — does the sponsor's income plausibly support the promise? A sponsor pledging ₦30m on a ₦400k salary triggers the same genuineness analysis as any suspicious statement, and sponsor accounts get verified with banks too.
- Relationship — documents beat assertions: birth certificates, marriage certificates, photos for hosts.
- Consistency — the letter's numbers must match the statements, the application form, and (for the US) the interview answers.
Five Mistakes That Void Sponsorship Letters
- Handwritten or unsigned letters (always typed, signed, dated)
- Signature that doesn't match the enclosed ID
- Vague promises ("I will support as needed") instead of named costs and amounts
- No source-of-funds story for the sponsor's balance — attach a source-of-funds explanation for any large credits
- Wrong instrument for the destination (free-text letter where Spain wants a carta de invitación, or an uncle's letter for a UK student file)
When the Sponsor's Funds Are the Problem
Sometimes the letter is perfect and the money is the issue — the sponsor's balance is too small, too new, or in the wrong shape. That's a structuring problem, and it has legal solutions: transferred-and-seasoned funds, documented gifts, or professionally structured proof of funds in the applicant's or an eligible sponsor's name.
